Of course, you'd probably make Rover happier giving him a rawhide bone - unless you let him eat your books, instead of giving them to a local school, the library, or reselling them on Amazon - in which case - well, we won't go there; this is a PG Rated Blog (I even cringe at dog-earring book pages).
I have to admit, there are few funner feelings than having someone ask to buy one's book - and I'm glad no one but the purchaser was there yesterday when I boo-booed the first autograph (no, I did remember how to spell my name - but did ask for the spelling of the requested name as I wrote it) by splotching the page (just a little) in a heavier-than-usual hand - but I did it. Wow. They do get easier. Didn't mess up the next few.
So, here's the deal - if any of you are in the L.A. area, and you have a copy of the book that you want me to sign, and we don't ordinarily hang out in the same places, keep your eye on these pages because I may have a real book-signing in the West Valley before Christmas and will happily oblige you then. I will also have books with me, at that time, in case you feel the need to buy a last-minute gift for your favorite Fantasy fan.
I've already been invited to make an appearance at the Woodland Hills Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library sometime in January or February and will have books to sell & sign then, after a short read-aloud - you'll know when I know!
If you have a favorite small bookstore in Southern California, let me know how to reach them and we'll see if we can set up something closer to where you are. (I'm told there isn't a prayer in Hereford that I will get any attention at all - much less a signing appearance - from any major book chains - so, until thousands like you have signed up here as members, that's the Pie in the Sky challenge.)
